A Robot Conducted an Italian Orchestra in Front of 800 People
So you might be looking for AI-generated music but we might have something more impressive! A robot called YuMi directed the famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli at a charity concert for the First International Festival of Robotics.
The robot is built by ABB, a leading technology company that I have never heard of who have been building digital products for over four decades.
YuMi the robot conducted the Italian orchestra in front of 800 people using moves that it learnt from conductor Andrea Colombini who moved the robot’s arms in time to the music. The robot then recorded the actions on its on-board computer and mimicked them to the orchestra.
